The whole point of Tantra is exploring your’s and your partner’s sensuality with teasing and a healthy sense of exploration. It’s a simple concept that seems to have been lost somewhere in translation. In truth the art of tantra is the art of sensual gratification through the use of control and patience. The connecting between two (or more) people is only made stronger through the use of touch. Of course in any sensual experience there is touch but is the touch truly effective? Just touching isn’t necessarily enough. It seems we, as a whole, have forgotten how to touch each other. This is on the forefront of tantric massages and teaching: making every single touch count.
You have to be present, in the moment and truly paying attention to the places where you touch and how you touch it. This is why when people go into a tantric massage expecting it to be a quick sexual experience they are shocked to find that it’s so much more. By setting aside a time, a place and a context for the massage you’re already eliminating from your mind things that would usually be going through it if you were having a simple and casual encounter. You’re forced to be there in the moment and you soon find that you want nothing more than to be just like that. This is one of the reasons stress relief is part of tantric massages. You become aware of how touch affects you and how you’ve been deprived of meaningful strokes, caresses and rubs. Every touch counts. The intention behind it is just as important as the touch itself. A masseuse has a clear intention that she energetically transmits by knowing where to place her hands and how. It’s not guessing and you should never feel like she’s simply ‘working’ but more like she’s helping you. She wants to be there, she wants to please you and she wants you to feel this without the use of words.
